Smith County spikers dominate 16-4A team

Smith County schools dominated the All-District 16-4A volleyball team, with John Tyler, Lindale and Whitehouse laying claim to all superlative honors.

Lindale senior Savannah Cantrell shared the award for Co-Most Valuable Player with Whitehouse senior Fulani Petties.

Lindale junior Zhanelle Geathers garnered Hitter of the Year honors.

Whitehouse won two superlatives, with junior Bonnie Cotton selected Defensive Player of the Year and sophomore Ashton Ates tabbed Newcomer of the Year.

John Tyler also claimed two superlatives, with senior Breanna Choice voted Blocker of the Year and senior Quaneshia Johnson selected Setter of the Year.

District champion Lindale placed three players on the first team: senior Hannah Brown and juniors Sydney Tiiman and Makenna Allen.

JT, which finished second in district play, matched Lindale with three first teamers: seniors Erica Franklin and Amicia Williams, and sophomore Donishia Rouege.

Whitehouse senior Angela Knight earned a spot on the first team.
