Apache Ladies place fifth in volleyball
WEST PLAINS, Mo. — The Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies placed fifth at the NJCAA Division I National Volleyball Tournament during Saturday’s final round of play.
The Apache Ladies swept College of Central Florida 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.
TJC, which was appearing in the national tournament for the first time since 2002, finishes the season at 32-6.
Tyler’s Jaqueline Santos, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was voted to the all-tournament team.
Southern Idaho won the title with a 3-0 win over Western Nebraska.
San Jacinto placed third with a 3-1 win over Iowa Western.
Keani Passi of Southern Idaho was voted Most Valuable Player of the tourney, while Southern Idaho’s Heidi Cartisser was named Coach of the Tournament.
