WILLS POINT — Courtney Miller finished with a match-high 21 kills to lead Waxahachie past Whitehouse, 3-0, in a Class 4A bi-district volleyball playoff Monday at Wills Point High School.

The Lady Indians eased past the LadyCats 25-13, 25-10, 25-10.

Waxahachie (34-7), which has only one senior, advances to the area round to meet either Texas High or Wylie East. Whitehouse, which graduates two seniors, finished the season with a 22-14 record.

Miller, a junior outside hitter, helped the Lady Indians build big leads in all three games. She smashed her 20th kill of the night to make the score 13-1 in the third game.

Whitehouse coach Britney Nordin was impressed with Miller and her teammates.

“They jumped out to big leads,” she said. “And for a while we would go on a good run. (Our players) played hard and played tough. Waxahachie is definitely a good team.”

Senior Fulanie Petties finished with 11 kills and 19 digs to lead the LadyCats. Junior Kaitlyn Anderson added six digs and 37 kills, while senior Angela Knight provided 13 assists.

Waxahachie raced out to a 10-2 lead in the first game, before allowing Whitehouse to pull within 11-7. At that point the Lady Indians took control once again, increasing the advantage to 19-8 on a Miller kill.

In the second game, Waxahachie took its first double-digit lead at 16-6. The third game was never in question, either.

The match was the last for Petties and Knight, who are set to graduate this spring.

“I have two seniors that will definitely be missed,” Nordin said. “But I’m excited about the juniors and sophomores”
