Tyler Junior Collegeâ€™s soccer teams both advanced to their respective district tournament title games scheduled for today at Pat Hartley Field.
The Apaches defeated Meridian (Miss.) Community College 8-0 on Friday and are scheduled to play Paris for the championship at 3 p.m.
Paris won over Pearl River (Miss.) 1-0.
The Apache Ladies defeated Cisco College 4-1 and are scheduled to play Navarro College at 6 p.m.
Navarro College defeated Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa 5-1 in Tyler on Friday to advance.
Freshman forward Tricia Gould scored two goals â€” one off an assist by Stacie Murray in the first half and another in the second.
Apache Ladiesâ€™ Courtney Turner and Khalisha Bond also added goals for TJC.
Cisco managed only one score, a goal from Becky Shephard early in the second half.
Midfielders Hamza El Otmani and Ke-A Kaino each scored two goals during Fridayâ€™s match against Meridian.
Four other Apaches also scored one goal each. Scoring for TJC were Oneal Fisher, Fernando Castellanos, Nathan Trout and Abdoulaye Faly.
Faly scored on a 50-yard kick that Meridian keeper Marlo Brinnon initially knocked down, but failed to follow through, allowing the ball to roll into the goal.
TJC ended the game with 18 shots on goal and five corner kicks. Meridian tallied seven saves.
