Crosstown rivals John Tyler and Robert E. Lee meet in a regular-season soccer game for the first time in two years Tuesday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

The Lions and Red Raiders are scheduled to kick off on Earl Campbell Field at 7:30 p.m.

Lee (4-2) is coming off a dominating 7-0 win over Pleasant Grove on Saturday in its final game of the Longview Tournament led by Lumi Kaba’s second hat trick of the season. The Red Raiders were 1-2 at the tournament, losing by one goal to both Kilgore and Red Oak.

John Tyler (5-1) took down Spring Hill and Henderson in the Longview Tournament, outscoring the two teams 12-0 with its lone loss, a 3-1 setback to Hallsville.

On Friday in Diboll, the Robert E. Lee JV scored a 2-0 win over the Diboll varsity on Friday in a soccer match.

Rafael Guzman and Geroham Gonzalez each scored for the Red Raiders. Guzman and Christian Vasquez had assists for Lee.

Defensively the Red Raiders played well with saves by both goalkeepers Omar Valterra and Isaac Urieta.

The REL JV-B won 5-0 on the Diboll JV. Brandon Sandoval had hat trick, while Eduardo Diaz and Allen Ortiz each scored for Lee.

Brook Hill rolls to win

BULLARD — Kennedy Rose and Kendall Wells scored two goals each to power the Brook Hill Lady Guard to a 5-0 win over Irving The Highlands in a Division III, District 1 soccer match on Monday at Herrington Stadium.

Brook Hill improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in league play. Plus, it was the second district shutout for goalkeeper Hayden Langemeier, who had four saves.

Haley Dumesniel added a goal for the Lady Guard. Contributing assists were Rose, Wells, Katherine Stair, Julia Troxell and Janet Nwachukwu.

Brook Hill meets Texoma Christian at 4 p.m. Thursday in Sherman.

Chapel Hill, Palestine tie

NEW CHAPEL HILL — The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs and the Palestine LadyCats fought to a 2-2 tie on Monday in a non-district soccer match at Bulldog Stadium.

Alex Payne scored both goals for Chapel Hill, while goalkeeper Caity Emmons had 15 saves.

“We are a young team, but we are getting better every single game,” CH coach Jaime Crouse said. “I thought we were very organized in the back tonight.”

The Lady Bulldogs (2-3-1) take part in the Longview Lady Lobo Chick-fil-A Tournament this weekend with games at 2 p.m. (Pine Tree) and 6 p.m. (Terrell) Thursday and noon (Spring Hill) Friday.
