Lady Lions capture key win
JACKSONVILLE β Quaneshia Johnson hit for 25 points and John Tyler rallied from an early 15-point deficit to score a 50-45 win over Jacksonville on Monday in a District 16-4A girls basketball game.
βThis was a great win for us,β JT coach Mike Smith said. βI thought we showed a lot of character coming from behind and winning against a very good Jacksonville team.β
Tiaka Lee added 11 points for the Lady Lions, who improve to 18-11 on the season and 3-3 in district play.
Chancii Scott led Jacksonville with 12 points.
βWe trailed 15 in the first quarter and got it down to seven at halftime (29-22),β Smith said. βAt the end of the third quarter, we were up by one.β
Smith praised his Lady Lions for their effort, especially in the fourth quarter.
Jacksonville falls to 2-4 in district as the Lady Lions swept the series. JT won 43-37 on Jan. 7 in Tyler.
