TJC picks up first conference road win
BEEVILLE β The Tyler Junior College menβs basketball team picked up its first conference road win of the season Wednesday, defeating Coastal Bend 72-62 in Region XIV action.
The Apaches (12-4, 3-3 North) capitalized at the foul line by sinking 18 of 20 free throws, including 12 for 12 in the second half.
TJC head coach Mike Marquis said the Apaches extended their lead with about five minutes to play in the game.
Coastal Bend, a first-year full member of the Region XIV Conference, fell to 10-3 and 4-2.
βWe played through some foul trouble and injuries,β Marquis said. βIt could have been easy to quit and lose another close one on the road. The guys really forged together and rebounded particularly well down the stretch.β
Anthony Odunsi, Dale Jones, TaβJon Welcome and DeAndre Harris scored in double figures for the Apaches.
