Stamford senior quarterback Hagen Hutchinson was named the Offensive Player of the Year on the 2012 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 1A all-state high school football team released Sunday.
Hutchinson racked up 2,153 yards and 33 touchdowns through the air while accumulating 994 yards with 13 more TDs rushing. The signal caller completed 160 of 241 passes while averaging 9.7 yards per rush.
Dee Paul, of Munday, was named Defensive Player of the Year on the team, which is voted upon based on regular-season performance. Munday, a defensive back, had seven interceptions and four defensive touchdowns. He also finished the regular season with 46 tackles, three fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
A couple East Texans earned second-team honors: Mount Enterprise senior running back Hunter Ammons, who ran for 1,859 yards and scored 152 points, and Grapeland junior defensive back Jacolby Simpson, who recorded three interceptions and a fumble recovery while being thrown at just five times.
San Augustine running back Tony Hubbard and Kerens punter Dylan Woods earned honorable mention at their respective positions.
