Grace Community’s impressive victory against Mineola was a team effort on Friday night. The Cougars’ all-purpose standout Kade Clayton headlined it.

In helping Grace roll 56-28 on the road, Clayton finished with eight receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. And on top of that, the junior added a pair of rushing touchdowns and a 90-yard kickoff return for a score.

Other notable performances...

Lin Gillham, Grace...The fellow Cougars standout was a team player as well in the rout. In addition to catching five passes for 68 yards, the senior receiver posted an interception and a fumble return on defense.

Dylan Cantrell, Whitehouse...In the Wildcats’ 38-14 win against Chapel Hill, the senior hauled in nine passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Tyler Price, Gladewater...In the Bears’ win against former district rival Pittsburg, Price stepped off 213 yards and two touchdowns on 28 attempts.

Jesse Roach, Overton...In a dramatic 28-21 win against Beckville, Roach finished with 18 carries for 117 yards and threw the game-winning score on a halfback pass.

Tory White, Longview...With Lobos quarterback Bivins Caraway having been ruled out for the season earlier in the week, White put much of the load on his shoulders with 117 yards rushing in a 30-14 win against Arkansas power North Little Rock.
