CORSICANA — Despite a District 16-4A-ending 35-25 loss to Corsicana, the Jacksonville Indians will begin postseason play Friday against Lancaster in Forney.

Tied 25-25 through three quarters, Jacksonville (4-6, 2-3) couldn’t keep up with the also playoff-bound Tigers (3-7, 3-2) in the final stanza.

Corsicana took a 6-0 lead with 8:34 in the first on a 44-yard TD run by Ronnie Devearux. The Tigers extended the lead to 8-0 a minute later when Jacksonville quarterback Carter McCown was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone.

The Tigers extended their lead to 15-0 when Devearux scored on a 17-yard run with 2:43 left in the quarter.

The Indians’ offense found its legs, making it 15-7 with 42 second on the clock when LaDarius Session scored on a 6-yard run.

Jacksonville made it 15-14 with 9:26 left in the second quarter before the two teams traded field goals before halftime.

The teams traded TDs in the third period — with Corsicana scoring first on a 20-yard Zachary Rash-to-Ashton Newsome pass. Jacksonville tied it at 25-25 on a 26-yard McCown-to-Darrell Minifee pass.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Tigers, who scored first on a 26-yard field goal by Ryan Condley and a 4-yard run by Bobby Wallace.
