TJC men's soccer team posts two shutouts in conference games

Sophomore forward Mohammed Kamara notched another hat trick to lead No. 5 Tyler Junior College to a 4-0 win over Laredo on Friday in men’s soccer action at Pat Hartley Field.

The Apaches followed up on that win with another shutout Saturday, 2-0 against Coastal Bend. The two conference wins moved TJC to 8-1 (11-2 overall).

The other goal-scorers over the weekend were Musa Qongo (vs. Laredo), Fredi Ortega (vs. Coastal Bend) and Kamara (vs. Coastal Bend).

Sophomore goalkeeper Robbie Johnson notched the clean sheet in both matches.

TJC took 16 shots in the 2-0 win, including five on target. Coastal Bend had six shots with two on target.

The Apaches return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Angelina at Pat Hartley Field. The TJC women’s game begins at 5 p.m.
