Cougars second in district, host playoff game Friday

DALLAS — Dallas Parish Episcopal scored moments into the second half and held on for a 1-0 win over Grace Community to claim the TAPPS D-II District 2 championship on Monday.

The Panthers finished 10-1-1 in league play, just ahead of the second-place Cougars (9-1-2), to claim the league’s top seed and an automatic berth into the regional round.

Grace will open the area playoffs on Friday at home against Fort Worth Southwest Christian at 7 p.m.

Bishop Gorman, which took fourth, takes on El Paso Lydia Patterson in the bi-district round at 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Worth Christian School. The winner of that game takes on TAPPS D-II District 1 champ Grapevine Faith Christian in the area round.
