Soccer roundup, Feb. 21: Grace ties Parish 2-2

Grace Community allowed a goal in the 30th minute of the second half, and the Cougars tied Dallas Parish Episcopal 2-2 on Thursday night in a TAPPS D-II District 2 soccer match. Grace’s Geoffrey Taylor took a shot that was saved in the 37th minute.

The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the opening 14 minutes of the match on goals by Kendrick Wong and Reid Dollahite, who assisted each other’s goals. Parish Episcopal made it 2-1 in the 35th minute of the first half.

Grace had 10 shots on goal and five corner kicks, while Parish had six and four, respectively.

The Cougars (12-6-4) are 9-0-2 in district, while Parish is 9-1-1. The teams must turn around and play again at 6:45 p.m. Monday at Parish in a makeup game. If the Cougars tie or win the match, they will be the district champions. Grace would be the runner-up if Parish wins Monday’s regular-season finale.

Brook Hill girls 2, Sherman Texoma 0

BULLARD — Janette Nwachukwu and Hayley Dumesnil each had a goal and an assist as the Brook Hill Lady Guard clinched second place in TAPPS Division III District 2 soccer with a 2-0 win over Sherman Texoma Christian on Thursday at Herrington Field.

Hayden Langemeier was in goal for the shutout.

Lady Guard coach David Collins praised the play of Lily Cool and Ari Assad in the back and midfielders Kendall Wells and Katherine Stair.

Brook Hill (10-5, 10-2) will host a playoff game on March 2 against an opponent to be named.

Werner scores 4 goals, powers All Saints

MESQUITE — Allie Werner scored four goals to lead the All Saints Lady Trojans to a 6-1 win over Dallas Christian on Thursday in a TAPPS Division II District 2 soccer match.

Emma Lewis and Erin Allen scored one goal each for the Lady Trojans (11-3-3, 5-2-2).

Also playing well for All Saints were midfielder Lanna Johnson and center defender Cameron Spinks.

The Lady Trojans play at Bishop Gorman on Monday. The contest has a 7 p.m. start.
