HS Soccer Roundup, Feb. 12: Kaba's third hat trick sparks Lee


MESQUITE — One streak ended Tuesday, but the more important one continues for Robert E. Lee boys soccer.

The Red Raiders allowed their first goals in four District 12-5A games, but made up for it by scoring seven themselves in a 7-3 win over Mesquite at E.H. Hanby Stadium.

Lee senior Lumi Kaba registered his third hat trick of the season with Javier Ruiz also scoring twice. The remaining goals came from Case Carnes and Mikey Wilkins as REL moved to 9-3-1 overall and 4-0 (12 pts in 12-5A), keeping the Red Raiders in sole possession of first place.

Assists in the game were by Carnes, Keegan McCombie, Kaba, Giovanni Sosa and Eric Munoz.

Lee led 3-2 at halftime.

“We would’ve liked to play a little better game in the back; we made some mistakes and paid for them, but we got the win, which is what we wanted to do,” Lee coach Marty Germany said.

 

Mesquite girls 3, Lee 1

Mesquite scored a 3-1 win over the Robert E. Lee Lady Raiders in a District 12-5A soccer match on Tuesday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

Sophomore Hailey Hurst scored for the Lady Raiders, while Adai Urieta assisted.

Lee (7-9) falls to 0-4 in district play, while the Lady Skeeters improve to 2-1-1.

The Lady Raiders return to play Feb. 19, hosting North Mesquite at the REL field.

 

All Saints girls 1, Prince of Peace 0

Emma Lewis slotted home the winner off an assist from Allie Werner as All Saints defeated Carrollton Prince of Peace 1-0 on Tuesday at Mewbourne Field.

Megan Daviau made eight saves in goal to preserve the shutout.

The Lady Trojans moved to 4-1-2 in TAPPS D-II District 2. They play at league-leading Dallas Parish Episcopal on Thursday at 7 p.m.

In the boys game Tuesday, the Eagles defeated the Trojans 5-0.

 

Brook Hill girls 3, Covenant 2

DALLAS — Kendall Wells scored two goals to help Bullard Brook Hill to a 3-2 win over Dallas Covenant on Tuesday in a TAPPS Division III District 1 soccer match.

The Lady Guard improved to 8-4 overall and 8-1 in league play.

Katherine Stair added the third goal for Brook Hill, while assists came from Wells and Hayley Dumnesnil.

Hayden Langemeier was in goal and she had five saves.

Brook Hill coach David Collins praised the defense of Ari Assad.

The Lady Guard returns to play on Saturday at Colleyville Covenant for the district championship. The contest has a noon start.


Grace boys 14, Shelton 0

The Grace Community boys soccer team scored a 14-0 win over Dallas Shelton in a TAPPS Division II District 2 soccer contest at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.

Ty Hunter led the goal assault with a hat trick. Also, Reid Dollahite had two goals and two assists.

Marc Ritthaler and Kendrick Wong each had two goals, while David Fraga, Tate Miller, Geoffrey Taylor, Zak Collum and Kyle Eli added one goal apiece.

Along with Dollahite’s two assists, Derrick Wong and Collum contributed assists.

The Cougars improved to 10-6-3 overall and 7-0-1 in district.

Grace plays at Bishop Gorman at 6 p.m. Thursday.


Brook Hill boys 8, Dallas Westwood 0

BULLARD — Caleb Latson had two goals and two assists as Bullard Brook Hill routed Dallas Westwood 8-0 Tuesday at Herrington Stadium.

Gyuhyo Choi had a goal and two assists for the Guard, who improved to 4-1 in TAPPS D-III District 2.

Also scoring for Brook Hill were Young Jun, Kyle Register, Victor Loolo, Grant Troxell and Wei Lim.

Adding assists for the Guard were Jun, Register and Kemp Walker. Brook Hill hits the road Friday to play Dallas Lutheran at 4 p.m. Friday.

 

Chapel Hill boys 4, Mabank 1

NEW CHAPEL HILL — Samuel Martinez netted twice to lead Chapel Hill to a 4-1 victory over Mabank in a District 31-4A matchup Tuesday.

Isai Torrescano and Sammy Guzman also scored for the Bulldogs while Christian Zavala had a pair of assists.

Edgar Espinoza made four saves in goal for Chapel Hill.
