Tyler Lee swimmers perform well at Nacogdoches invite

NACOGDOCHES - Tyler Lee girls and boys swim teams finished second Saturday at the Nacogdoches Invite.

The meet featured 16 teams competing, but none of them could stop Lee’s 200-medley and 400 freestyle relay teams, which combined for four first-place finishes.

The girls medley team of Caroline Richbourg, Mallory Baker, Aveanne Tugano and Abbie Roeland finished in a time of 2 minutes and four seconds, nearly seven seconds ahead of the second place team from Nacogdoches.

It was one of four victories by Richbourg. The freshman was also swam a leg on Lee’s first-place 400 freestyle relay and won individual events in 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

The boys medley relay team of Alberto Destarac, Samuel Daddow, Chase Fields and Hunter Oldham finished in a time of 1:47.45, narrowly edging out the team from Nacogdoches (1:47.83).

The Lady Raiders also grabbed first-place finishes in 500 Freestyle (Katie Shuler), along with the 400 Freestyle Relay (Richbourg, Shuler, Beth Routon and Mallory Baker).

Leading the way for the Red Raiders was Fields. The freshman won his 500 freestyle individual race and swam legs for Lee’s winning medley and 400 freestyle relays. Lee went 1, 2, 3 in the 500 freestyle with Davis Oster taking second and Xander Wick in third. The Red Raiders also grabbed first-place finishes in 200 individual medley (Destarac), 100 freestyle (Oldham) and 400 freestyle relay (Destarac, Oldham, Wick, Fields).
