8 additional golfers make finals

Eight golfers qualified on Tuesday for the finals of the 31st Annual UT Tyler Southside Bank Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest.

Qualifiers were Mike Craig of Whitehouse (24 inches, early bird), Caleb Cheavens of Tyler (13.5 inches, Tuesday Night), Thomas Morrow of Tyler (R&K Corporate Lane), Curtis Clader of Tyler (Donna Cummings Corporate Lane), Eddie Pruett of Flint (KLTV Corporate Lane), Dwayne Reynolds of Flint (Cable’s Roof Corporate Lane), Bobby Carter of Tyler (Complete Care Corporate Lane) and David Taylor (Trinity Capital Management Corporate Lane).

A total of 2,246 shots were hit on Tuesday for a three-day total of 6,476.

The site, at the corner of University Blvd. and Old Omen Road at the UT Tyler practice soccer field, is open on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Corporate Lanes for Tuesday will be Proforma & Choice Homecare, Morgan Stanley, Texas National Bank and the Wilson, Robertson & Cornelius Law Firm.

The UT Tyler Southside Bank Patriot Million Dollar Hole-In-One Contest offers amateur golfers age 18 and older the opportunity to compete for a chance to win $1 million.

The annual event raises money for scholarships to current UT Tyler students.

The event has provided scholarship opportunities for dozens of current and past University of Texas at Tyler students for more than 30 years.

To date, The University of Texas at Tyler Patriot Endowed Scholarship foundation has raised over $2 million for students.

Friday, May 19 Seniors Day - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Anyone age 65 or older with valid picture ID gets two free tickets - 10 shots - for every five tickets - 25 shots - purchased, and free lunch courtesy of Citizens National Bank). Additional senior golfer per AM/PM shifts will qualify for finals.

Friday Night Lights - 7 to 11 p.m. (Hourly Qualifiers)

Saturday, May 20 - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Children’s Event at the Hole-in-One for First Tee participants); 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Hole-in-One contest); 6:30 p.m. (Finalist Photos)
