Soisson sparks Apaches to win
Jacob Soisson went 4 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Tyler Junior College to an 8-6 win over Panola College on Monday at Mike Carter Field.
The Apaches improved to 13-2 on the season, while the Ponies fell to 13-2.
Soisson also scored three runs and had a double.
Blaise Warrick had two hits and two RBIs, while Hunter Sutton and Anthony Soriano had two hits apiece.
Richard Tordsen and Logan Newton each had an RBI.
The Apaches took a 6-5 lead in the seventh. Soisson singled to center and was sacrificed to second by Cody Broussard. He went to third on a passed ball.
Soisson was plated by Warrick’s RBI single.
TJC tacked on two in the eighth for an 8-5 lead.
Sutton and Soriano had back to back singles to start the inning. Luke Neely’s bunt advanced the runners up a base.
After an out, Soisson doubled to right-center, scoring his teammates.
TJC returns to play on Wednesday, playing host to Weatherford College in doubleheader at Mike Carter Field. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
