Tyler Junior College swept Mountain View in a baseball doubleheader Saturday at Mike Carter Field.
The Apaches claimed the opener 10-0 and the finale 2-1.
TJC improved to 9-1 on the season and returns to action Monday at UT Tyler JV. Game time is 6 p.m.
TJC pitcher Colton Burleson ran his season record to 3-0 in five innings of work, allowing no runs on one hit with four strikeouts and no walks. His shutout performance was aided by teammate and Whitehouse High School graduate Logan Newton, who provided both RBIs.
Anthony Soriano and Connor Wrye each finished with a run and a hit for the Apaches, who scored in the third and sixth innings.
In the day’s opener, TJC scored three runs in the second and five in the third to take complete control of a game that lasted only one hour, 46 minutes.
Soriano, Austin Drolette, Justin Monsour, Hunter Sutton and Blaise Warrick had two hits apiece for TJC. Monsour led with a 2-for-3 performance that included three RBIs and a run.
TJC’s Eythan Lenz improved to 3-0, allowing two hits and striking out five in five innings on the mound.
