Elkhart stopped by West, 57-19

WEST - The Elkhart Elks were held in check Friday on the road at West in a 57-19 District 9-3A Division I loss.

Elkhart quarterback Landry Mays was limited to 25 yards passing with the Elks ground game held to 144 yards on 38 attempts. John Ashford led the Elks with 95 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.

Elkhart trailed West 29-0 after the first quarter and is now 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in district.

The Trojans (4-1, 2-0) finished with 308 yards passing and 308 yards rushing.

Elkhart will look to bounce back at home to Teague (3-2, 1-1), which defeated Eustace 28-14. That game is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 at Jerry Ives Memorial Stadium.
