Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill spoiled Grace Community’s homecoming by defeating the Cougars 60-0 on Friday at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.
TCCH’s Jarrick Hawkins fielded the game’s opening kickoff in the back of the end zone and returned it all the way for a touchdown. The visitors never allowed the Cougars back in it after that.
TCCH running back Maurice Washington, making his season debut, scored on TD runs of 70, 54 and 23 yards to finish with 282 yards rushing for the game. Tigers quarterback Shedeur Sanders tossed TD passes of 10 and 4 yards with Ja’Marvin Hartfield (2) and Qualan Jones (1) rushing for TDs as well for the visitors.
Grace was led in the loss by Uchenna Uduma, who rushed for 63 yards on 14 attempts with quarterback Braydon Stone passing for 96 yards. Jace Rees had two catches for 28 yards. Alvin Skipworth had 30 yards receiving and Griffin Kuykendall 25 for the Cougars.
Stone also had an interception.
TCCH is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in TAPPS Division II, District 2 while Grace dropped to 1-5 and 0-2.
The Cougars are idle next week before resuming district play on Friday, Oct. 27 at Carrollton Prince of Peace.
