Junior quarterback Devlen Woods and safety Tyus Grayson earned Players of the Week in John Tyler’s 27-23 victory over Ennis, JT coach Ricklan Holmes announced on Monday.

Woods threw for four touchdown passes in leading the Lions to the come-from-behind win, the third win in four games against former district foe Ennis.

Woods hit on 8 of 15 passing attempts for 147 yards. He tossed two TD passes to Jaivon Williams for 16 and 13 yards. Also, Woods hit Roderick Hawkins for a 20-yard touchdown reception and connected with Ke’Andre Street on a 30-yard TD.

The 5-7, 165-pound signal-caller also rushed for 10 yards on seven attempts.

Grayson, a 5-10, 170-pound senior, registered 10 tackles, four assists, including one for a loss. He also broke up a pass attempt.

For the second straight week, kicker/punter Frankie Sanchez earned the Special Teams award. The 5-8, 150-pound junior connected on all three extra point attempts, plus he punted for an average of 41.0 yards. Included in those punts was a 58-yarder. He also had a touchback on five kickoffs.
