Steers fall to Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE - Quarterback Landry Turner threw four touchdowns in leading Hardin-Simmons to a 74-0 victory over the Texas College Steers on Saturday in a non-conference football game at Shelton Stadium.

Turner hit on 15 of 18 passing attempts for 246 yards. Jaquan Hemphill (5-85) and Marc Reed (4-85) led the Cowboys in rushing. Reese Childress had two catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns with Alex Bell catching eight passes for 81 yards and a TD.

Quarterback Sean Stell led the Steers by hitting on 10 of 24 passing attempts for 114 yards.

Last week the Steers ran the ball well against Lane College, but were not as successful this week. Carlos Mosby paced TC with 20 yards on 10 attempts. Dajuan Hill added 17 yards on five carries.

Jude St. Julian had two catches for 46 yards with Ronald Harris adding two receptions for 24 yards. Hill snagged two passes for 23 yards.

Defensively, Patrick Petty had an interception with Jason Parker adding nine tackles for the Steers, including two sacks. John Brown and Malik Guillory each had six tackles with Guillory adding a tackle for a loss.

The Steers (0-2) open Central States Football League play on Sept. 16, hosting Southwestern Assemblies of God at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Cowboys (1-0) return to play on Sept. 16, hosting Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference play. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
