All Saints rushes past Knights

All Saints made it a clean sweep as all three Rose City schools captured wins in the 12th Annual Tyler Football Classic at McCallum Stadium.

Led by quarterback Tanner Towns’ 332 yards rushing, the Trojans scored a 52-16 win over Dallas A+ Academy on Saturday in the three-day event sponsored by Azalea Orthopedics and Texas Spine & Joint.

Grace Community won on Thursday over Waxahachie Life, 48-28, while on Friday Bishop Gorman defeated Garrison 41-35.

Along with his rushing yards rushing, Towns also scored three touchdowns on runs of 37, 41 and 50 yards. He did all of that on 10 carries. Also, Towns was 1 of 2 passing for seven yards (to MJ Smith-Dukes).

The Trojans rushed for 557 yards on 39 attempts.

Towns’ backfield mates also ran wild with Collin Gee contributing 109 yards and two touchdowns (7 and 14 yards) with Smith-Dukes adding 90 yards and two TDs (3 and 1 yards) on 15 totes.

Towns and Smith-Dukes added a two-point conversion each while Russell Wynne was 3 for 3 on PATs with a 28-yard field goal. Wynne also recovered his own onside kick.

Defensively, Drew Parks and Gee both had fumble recoveries for the Trojans, while Cody Brewer had an interception.

Jeremiah Smith led the Knights with 94 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

All Saints returns to play on Saturday, meeting Midland Trinity Christian in Fort Worth. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at FW Southwest Christian.
