Customers who went to selected area Dairy Queens got a bit of a surprise on Thursday.

Members of the John Tyler and Robert E. Lee football teams were on hand helping out to serve Blizzards as part of Miracle Treat Day.

The annual event raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. One dollar or more from every Blizzard treat sold at participating DQ locations throughout the country are donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Both JT and Lee announced earlier in the week that they would be there.

The Lions were working hard in their white jerseys at Dairy Queen on Gentry from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Red Raiders, donning their black jerseys, visited two locations with half going to the Dairy Queen on South Broadway near the Village at Cumberland Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and another half were at Dairy Queen on 5th street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

John Tyler opens up the season Sept. 1 at Plano West and Robert E. Lee begins its campaign Sept. 1 at Marshall.
