Girls Basketball Tuesday Roundup: Martin's Mill defeats Tatum

MARTIN'S MILL 80, TATUM 55

TATUM - Abbie Orrick delivered a double-double and Martin’s Mill produced a double-digit win Tuesday at Tatum.

Orrick finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds in an 8-55 victory for Martin’s Mill (2-1), which bounced back from an overtime loss Saturday to Brock.

Other top scorers for Martin’s Mill were Briley Moon (18), Calli Camacho (15) and Taylor Sparks (14). Mollie Daniel dished out 10 assists and finished two points shy of a double-double with eight.

Tatum’s Brianna Mitchell led the Lady Eagles (2-1) with 23.

Martin’s Mill will be back home Saturday against Grapeland. Tip-off is 1 pm. at Martin’s Mill High School.

 

SABINE 51, GLADEWATER 34

Sabine – Sabine (2-1) defeated Gladewater 51-34 on Tuesday evening. The leading Lady Cardinals were Kristen Stuart (19), Genesis Willett (10) and Sarah Davis (8).

Sabine will play in the upcoming New Diana Tournament this weekend.

 

GRACE COMMUNITY 58, LUFKIN HUDSON 41

Three Grace Community players hit in double figures - led by Addie Daughtry’s 15 points - as the Lady Cougars defeated Lufkin Hudson 58-41 on Tuesday at GHS.

Lindsey Hudgins added 15 points for the Lady Cougars with Reagan Wilson pitching in 12.

Maddie Hawkins led Hudson with 11 points.

Grace moved to 2-1 with the win while Lufkin Hudson dropped to 0-3.

Lufkin Hudson won the JV game, 38-22

Grace will next compete in the Slocum Tournament, beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday with a matchup against Buffalo at Slocum HS.

Hudson is at Palestine on Friday with a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.

 

BROWNSBORO 45, ATHENS 38

ATHENS - The Athens Lady Hornets connected on six three-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to deny Brownsboro, who used a balanced scoring effort led by 11 from McKenzie Smith to win 45-38 Tuesday in a non-district girls’ game at Athens High School.

Brownsboro (2-0) led 22-15 at halftime and maintained its advantage over Athens (2-1) in the second half. Joining Smith on the scoresheet for Brownsboro were Alexix Hambrick (10), Morgan Fulgham (7), Alieah Williams (6), Tay Limbrick (6) and Katelyn England (5).

The Bearettes will next be in action at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Grand Saline Tournament. Brownsboro will face Campbell.

In the subvarsity games, Brownsboro JV defeated Athens 32-24 and Brownsboro 9th won over Whitehouse 54-5.

 

CANTON 46, FAIRFIELD 23

CANTON - Hannah Manry scored 10 points to lead Canton past Fairfield 46-23 on Tuesday in a non-district girls basketball game at Canton High School.

Also leading offensively for Canton in the win were Kyndall Nilius (7) and Kenley Nixon (6). Nilius lead the Eaglettes in rebounding and Manry connected on two three-pointers.

Fairfield was led in the loss by six points apiece from Joanna Zamora and Braden Bossier.

Canton will next host Mount Vernon at noon Monday at Canton High School.

 

ALL SAINTS 68, CROSS ROADS 35

Trysten Mosely had a game-high 22 points as the All Saints Lady Trojans scored a 68-35 victory over Cross Roads Tuesday at Brookshire Gym.

Madelyn Perkins added 10 points for All Saints (2-0).

Other scorers for All Saints were: Hannah Widman (8), Lauren Datwyler (8), Madisyn Findley (5), Tori Atwood (5), Grace Wolfe (4), Sarah Jordan (2) and Olivia Patterson (2).

Scoring for CR were: Bri Arden (10), Grayson Cain (9), Marilyn Alvarado (6), Meghan Cook (4), Natalie Bolton (4) and Janysn Hughes (2).

All Saints plays at Gilmer on Saturday with the JV scheduled to start at 10 a.m., followed by the varsity at 11 a.m.

 

ARP 56, HAWKINS 30

HAWKINS - Arp’s lead at halftime proved too much for the Lady Hawks. The top players leading the charge to victory for Arp were Yarbrough (11), Bourque (11), Harris (10) and Ferguson (9).

Despite a strong late game effort, Hawkins was unable to come back from Arp’s first half lead.

The leading scorers for Hawkins in the loss were Raeli Smith (11), Emily Hodges (8), Alyssa Eddington (4) and Emily Moore (4).

Hawkins will be playing in the upcoming New Diana Tournament.
