FORNEY - Tyler Lee’s Devin Johnson and Jamal Jones finished with 13 points apiece in a 60-57 overtime loss to Forney on Tuesday in the Red Raiders’ season opener.
The Red Raiders (0-1) made eight 3-pointers, but shot just 33 percent overall. Xavier Hunter finished one rebound shy of a double-double, delivering 10 points and nine rebounds with Jones adding eight boards.
The Red Raiders trailed 30-28 at halftime and went back and forth with Forney in the second half. Lee had a chance to win the game in regulation, but the shot missed.
Lee never led in the overtime.
“One of our goals each game is to have 12 turnovers or less and we played a game tonight with only six turnovers, so that was a very good positive,” Lee coach Alan Simmons said. “We just missed too many shots.”
Other top scorers for Lee in the loss were Kameron Ross (8) and Connor Carlyle (9).
Lee will be back on the floor Thursday in the Coppell Tip-Off Showcase. The Red Raiders are scheduled to face South Garland at 1:30 p.m. at Coppell High School.
