Grace boys fall to in area round, 75-58


LUBBOCK — Grace Community’s basketball season came to a close as Lubbock Trinity Christian fended off the Cougars 75-58 in the TAPPS 4A area playoffs Saturday.

The TAPPS 1-4A champion Lions (25-8) advance to play Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill in the regional playoffs.

The Cougars ended their first season under coach Neal Welch with a 17-16 record, finishing fourth in TAPPS 2-4A. Grace recorded its first playoff win in eight years on Friday, defeating El Paso Lydia in the bi-district round.
