Athens’ Woodard throws no-hitter

FAIRFIELD - Cameron Woodard tossed a no-hitter and struck out 10 in leading the Athens Hornets to a 12-0 five-inning win over Fairfield on Tuesday in a District 18-4A baseball game.

Woodard did not walk a batter and the only Eagle to reach base got there by error.

Noah Sikes was a home run shy of the cycle for Athens. He also had two RBIs. Luis Valdez and Kolemann Dooley each had two hits with Dooley adding a double and two RBIs.

Peyton Brewer, Casey Pitchford and Kobe Kale had singles for the Hornets with Brewer adding two RBIs. Other RBIs were from Woodard, Preston Benton, Pitchford and Kale.


Edgewood hurlers combine for no-hitter

ALBA - Tye Elie, Cooper Hill and Kason Grant combined for a no-hitter to propel the Edgewood Bulldogs to a 10-0 victory over Alba-Golden on Wednesday in a District 12-3A baseball game.

Elie threw two innings with five strikeouts, while Hill tossed two innings with four punchouts. Grant pitched the final inning, striking out the side.

Elie and Trey Erwin belted home runs with Elie, Grant and Hill adding doubles.

Hill had three hits with Turner Bannister and Elie next with two hits. Others with hits were Hunter Robinson, Keaton Seale and Dylan Coble.

Hill had three RBIs with Erwin (2), Grant, Elie and Coble driving in runs.


Brook Hill 16, Bishop Gorman 2

BULLARD - Logan Langford and Miguel Vega combined for a one-hitter, lifting the Bullard Brook Hill Guard to a 16-2 victory over the Bishop Gorman Crusaders on Wednesday in a TAPPS baseball game.

Langford pitched three innings, allowing one hit, two unearned runs while striking out six and walking four. Vega hurled two innings, striking out four and not walking a batter.

Josh Jenkins belted a home run for the Guard with Langford contributing two doubles. Others with two-baggers were Brooks Parham, Reid Hill, Vega and Seth Moss.

Parham had three hits and four RBIs with Moss getting two hits and four RBIs. Hill had two hits and two RBIs as did Jenkins.

Campbell Fletcher had a single for the Guard with Langford and Logan Fitzgerald driving in runs.

Nick Reuter had the hit for the Crusaders with Michael Lara and Nate Grundy scoring runs.


Union Grove 10, Hawkins 0

HAWKINS - Tanner Stanley threw a one-hitter leading the Union Grove Lions to a 10-0 win over the Hawkins Hawks on Wednesday in a District 19-2A baseball game.

Stanley struck out six and walked one batter. At the plate, Stanley had a double and two singles, along with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Parker Thornton and Kase Smith belted doubles for the Lions, while Kooper Smith had two singles. Others adding hits were Austin Owens, Noah Mayhan and Dylan Borden.

Owens had two RBIs with Mayhan, Thornton, Smith and Borden driving in one run apiece.

Casper Jasper had the hit for the Hawks.


Van 3, Brownsboro 2

VAN - Van rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for a 3-2 victory over Brownsboro on Wednesday in a District 13-4A softball game.

Nathan Jay had a double and an RBI for the Vandals, while Sean Beasley had a single and an RBI. Other Vandals with hits were Thomas Slayden, Jacoby Bogue and Ridge Preston.

Hoss Brewer and Austin Hulsey combined on the one-hitter for the Vandals. Brewer did not allow a hit in 5 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs while striking out 10 and walking two. Hulsey hurled the final 1 1/3 innings, giving up one hit while striking out four and not walking a batter.

Austin Fout had the hit for the Bears with two RBIs.
