HS Baseball/Softball Roundup, Feb. 26: Lady Raiders win 8-5


Robert E. Lee shook off a slow start to dominate Kaufman in the later innings en route to an 8-5 win Tuesday at Faulkner Park.

The Lady Raiders (5-3) received two doubles from Raven Hill (3 for 3) and Betty Allen while Makenna Aycock (3 for 4) doubled and also had 12 strikeouts on the mound to post her fifth victory.

“The girls played solid defense tonight and fought back from being down three runs,” said Lee coach Darren Pool.

WHITEHOUSE — Derek Clemons had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, including a solo home run to lead Whitehouse to a 12-4 win over Grace Community on Tuesday.

Patrick Mahomes doubled and scored three times for the Wildcats (2-2) while Jake Parker went the distance to record the win on the mound, striking out eight.

Jacob Spitzer went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to power the Cougars (3-2).

Kendall Kerns hit two home runs and had nine RBIs, Drew Robertson added a homer and seven RBIs as Bullard Brook Hill routed Bishop Gorman 36-1 Tuesday.

The Guard scored 19 runs in the first inning. Mike Greening and Collin Mondrik each had five hits for Brook Hill, which finished with 29 on the night.
