BELTON — UT Tyler split a baseball doubleheader with Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at Red Murff Field.
The Patriots won the second game 5-4 after dropping the first contest 3-2. UT Tyler (7-3) won two games in the three-game series.

The insurance run was needed, with the Cru scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With the score 5-4, Matt Sheppard and Derek Miller came in to shut the door on UMHB, throwing the eighth and ninth innings for the Patriots without allowing a run.
The game started on the right foot for UT Tyler, which scored a run in the first inning off a Kevan House double that scored Martin, making the score 1-0.
UMHB wouldn’t trail for long, scoring two runs in bottom half of the first inning, one on a sacrifice fly by Chase Burrow and the other on a single by Garrett Webb.
