Steers swept by No. 2 LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT β€” No. 2 LSU-Shreveport swept a three-game set with upset-minded Texas College to complete the Red River Athletic Conference baseball opening series.

After winning by 10 runs in Friday’s first game, LSU-Shreveport scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a 3-2 win over Texas College to start Saturday’s doubleheader.

Dennis Neal lasted the distance for TC, allowing only one run through six innings and striking out five.

LSU-Shreveport finished off TC with an 8-4 win in Saturday’s final game. Jose Serna went 3 for 4 and Frank Mora had two RBIs to lead the Steers in the four-run loss.

The Pilots opened the series with a 14-4 win over the Steers on Friday. Moises Espinoza went 2 for 2 and scored three runs to pace the Steers. LSU-Shreveport hurler Young struck out nine batters and pitched all but one out to get the victory for the Pilots.
