WAXAHACHIE β€” Waxahachie senior pitcher Marshall Herron, grandson of East Texans, recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Cisco College in Cisco.

Herron is the grandson of Shirley Wheeler and the late Mike Wheeler of Flint, and Gary and Kathy Moore of Lindale and the late Sue Moore.

Herron was joined at the signing by his parents, sister and grandmother.

Also attending were Blake Doolan of UR Baseball of Waxahachie, his first pitching coach Roy Vaughn of First Pitch America and Waxahachie coaches Tracy Wood and Jim Miller.

β€œI went into the process by looking for a school that could help me get to where I want to be,” Herron said. β€œCisco is a great school with a great baseball program and I really felt like the coaches there could help me reach the next level.”

The Indians are ranked No. 5 in the Class 4A preseason poll and Herron will be one of the top three pitchers on the staff.
