All Saints sweeps Gorman

Cross-town rivals All Saints and Bishop Gorman started the new year with the opening district basketball doubleheader on Friday at Haddad Gymnasium.

All Saints earned the upper hand by sweeping the contests - the Lady Trojans won 68-38, while the Trojans triumphed 73-41.

GIRLS

Trysten Mosely filled the nets for 37 points to pace the No. 9 All Saints (16-7, 1-0) attack.

Mosely was followed by Madison Findley’s 15 points as the Lady Trojans rallied from a 16-12 first-quarter deficit.

Mosely scored 18 of her 37 points in a span of three minutes and 20 seconds of the third quarter.

All Saints swung the game into its corner with a 21-4 outburst in the second quarter, followed by a 26-6 margin in the third.

Victoria Paige Rebmann led the Lady Crusaders (8-8, 0-1) with 11 points, while Chloe Carl added eight.

The Lady Crusaders are next scheduled to play St. Mary’s in Longview at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans are slated to play host to Grace Community next Friday at Brookshire Gym.

BOYS

The Trojans, ranked No. 3, broke out to a 25-6 first-quarter lead and cruised to win the win.

Levi McCasland and Scottie Turner combined for the first 13 points of the game to get the Trojans going.

All Saints (18-3, 1-0) used a balanced scoring attack, led by Lance Lee’s 16 points. Turner (13) and Levi McCasland (12) were also in double figures scoring. Daylon Lewis added nine points, while Mason Embry and Harrison Kirkpatrick tossed in seven points apiece.

Grant McInnis and Daniel Schmitt led the Crusaders (9-9, 0-1) with nine points apiece. Chris Jones added seven.

All Saints is scheduled to play at Avinger on Monday, while the Crusaders are scheduled to play at Fort Worth Christian.
