Women

Records: Langston 6-11 (6-6); Texas College 3-15 (2-10).

Players to watch: Langston — Amber Coleman, 6-2, Jr., F/C, Greenville, S.C. (17.1 points, 7.0 rebounds per game); Texas College — Sekeya Roberson, 5-8, Jr., PG, Mansfield (11.5 points, 3.6 assists, 2.9 steals per game).

Fastbreak: Coleman reached her season scoring average with 17 points as defending conference champion Langston stopped a three-game losing slide and handed No. 17 Wiley its first conference loss, 81-74, on Monday. The Lady Steers dropped into a tie for last in the RRAC with Monday’s 73-63 loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God.

Men

Records: Langston 8-11 (5-7); Texas College 13-6 (7-5).

Players to watch: Chuck Saunders (12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds per game); Blake Turner, 6-0, So., SG, Tyler (7.0 points per game, 60 % 3FG%).

Fastbreak: The newly added Saunders sparked Langston with 18 points and eight rebounds Monday as the Lions stopped a four-game skid with a 76-54 win over Wiley. TC lost an 11-point halftime lead in a 77-71 setback to No. 16 Southwestern Assemblies of God. The Steers’ losing streak stretched to four games since they shot up to No. 10 in the NAIA, falling out of the Top 25 while mired in eligibility issues ending two starters’ careers, and injuries sidelining two of their top three posts the past two weeks.
