Patriot men pull away from Ozarks, 80-68


CLARKSVILLE, Ark. — Five UT Tyler players scored in double figures as the Patriots pulled away from Ozarks in the second half to register an 80-68 win in an American Southwest Conference basketball game on Thursday.

In the first contest, the Patriot women fell to the Lady Eagles, 50-47.

Both UT Tyler teams stay on the road, traveling to Richardson to meet UT Dallas on Saturday. The women play at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3 p.m.

MEN

Travis Dykman led the Patriots with 17 points with Tyler Hysell adding 14 points. Jordan Cannon and Tre Potter contributed 11 points apiece, while Darren Houliston added 10. Houliston had another double-double with his 12 rebounds.

Marcus Bobb led the Eagles with 21 points.

UT Tyler improved to 11-3 on the season and maintained its lead in the ASC East with a 6-2 mark. UT Dallas is next at 6-3, followed by Mississippi College at 5-3. Ozarks fell to 4-10 and 2-7.

WOMEN

The Lady Eagles, behind RaShelle Goldman’s 15 points, held off the Patriots.

Danai Woods, who was 8 of 8 from the floor, led the Patriots with 18 points. She’Cara Humphrey added nine points and nine rebounds.

The Patriots fell to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in league play. Ozarks improved to 7-7 and 4-5.
