Texas College shot up to No. 10 in the latest NAIA menâ€™s basketball poll.
The Steers (13-2) climbed 14 spots from the previous ranking in December, TCâ€™s first time to crack the NAIA Top 25. The ranking represents the highest in school history.
The Steers are tied with two others schools for 10th: Montana State-Northern (15-4) and Cal State San Marcos (13-4).
TC opened the spring schedule with a 109-82 win over Paul Quinn last Saturday. The Steers sit in first place in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 7-1 record.
Southwestern Assemblies of God, ranked No. 21, trails TC in second in the RRAC at 7-2.
RRAC power Texas Wesleyan saw its longest active streak of being ranked consecutively snapped at 59 straight polls. Texas Wesleyan received 35 votes (28th), with Our Lady of the Lake garnering six votes 32nd).
Cumberlands (Ky.) holds the No. 1 ranking, followed by unbeaten No. 2 Columbia (Mo.) at 16-0 and No. 3 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at 18-0.
The Steers play rivalry games Thursday at Wiley in Marshall and at home Saturday versus Jarvis Christian.
