BULLARD β€” Bullard stormed back from a 15-point halftime deficit to take a thrilling 54-42 win over Athens on Monday in a girls basketball holiday matinee at Panther Gymnasium.

Athens’ Demi Cumby led all scorers in the game with 21 points, but a defensive change at the half by Bullard slowed Cumby down, while the Lady Panther 3-pointers warmed up.

Bridgette Taylor made the going tough defensively for the Lady Hornets and Cumby in particular while knocking down two of her four treys as Bullard crept back into the game, out-pointing Athens 18-10 in the period to pull within 41-34.

The fourth quarter was all Taylor Frederick, scoring all 10 of her points in the final period and knocking down one of her 3-pointers to Bullard the lead.

Lexi Kirgan had a big game for Bullard with a double-double, scoring 12 points and snagging 11 rebounds.

Bullard will return to District 16-3A play on Friday when the Lady Panthers travel to Gladewater for a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls are scheduled to tipoff at 6 p.m.
