Bulldogs win Quitman Tournament


QUITMAN — The Quitman Bulldogs captured the championship of the Quitman Holiday Basketball Tournament on Friday.

Lenzie Foley hit for 25 points in powering the Bulldogs to a 59-57 win over Daingerfield in the championship game. Evan Henry added 17 points, while Jacob Hurley had nine points. Foley also had nine rebounds and four steals.

In the 69-44 pool play win over Winona, Henry had 25 points, while Foley added 10 points. Also, Austin White and Jake Jackson pitched in nine and eight points, respectively.

Harmony captured third place with a 100-58 victory over Winona. Four Eagles scored in double figures, led by Austin Spurlock (23 points) and Seth Seabolt (22). Alan Peralta added 19, while Reid Rendon pitched in 10. Other Eagle scorers were Ethan Edwards (9), Brandon Johnson (8), Collin Sosebee (7) and Austin Goddard (2).

Detroit took the consolation title with a 42-36 win over Redwater.

Henry was voted Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Other all-tournament members were Foley and White from Quitman; Daingerfield’s Jonathan Barber and Donald Bryant; and Harmongy’s Spurlock.
