Bullard doubles up on Rusk, 66-33

BULLARD — The Bullard Panthers marked up win No. 9 on the season with a runaway win over Rusk, 66-33, on Tuesday night at Panther Gymnasium.

Panther swingman Hunter Landrum scored in every quarter and scored the last of his game-high 22 points with his second trey of the game with one minute left in the contest.

Bullard jumped out quick behind back-to-back 3-pointers by Chandler Clark and Corbin Howard, to build a 10-3 lead early. Another trey from Clark staked Bullard to an 18-11 lead after one quarter.

The Eagles struggled in the second period offensively, finally scoring the first bucket of the quarter at the 3:52 mark. Chaston Bennett made a trey to close out the half for Rusk.

Bullard shooting guard Clark finished the first half with 10 of his 12 points in the game, making three consecutive Bullard buckets in the second quarter to build a 29-13 cushion. Landrum then finished out the first-half scoring for Bullard with a bucket and a 31-16 advantage.

The Eagles hit another scoring drought after a bucket at the 6:21 mark and a 33-20 score in the third quarter; 3:35 later Rusk got a basket from Taylor Sturns, however Bullard had stretched the lead to 45-22.

Panthers post Scott Lowrie controlled the boards and scored six of his 10 points in the third quarter as the Bullard lead grew to a 51-23 mismatch.

Lowrie finished the game with a double-double, grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking four shots.

The Eagles will entertain Van on Friday in an afternoon matinee, with a 2 p.m. tipoff scheduled.
