Apaches fall to Angelina

LUFKIN — Angelina rallied past Tyler Junior College in the second half as the Roadrunners defeated the Apaches 70-65 Saturday night in a Region XIV basketball conference game.

The Apaches (8-3, 0-2) rallied from a 26-20 halftime deficit to take a 33-26 advantage.

However, the Roadrunners came to get the win.

“When we had them on the ropes, we took three really bad shots,” TJC coach Mike Marquis said. “When we do that, we’re not very good. When we’ve been most effective we’ve been attacking, and getting to the free throw line.”

Anthony Odunsi led TJC with 16 points, while DeAndre Harris had 11 points. Ta’Jon Welcome added 10.

Jaylen Daniel and LaDerrien Jackson each hit for 19 points to pace Angelina.
