Fastbreak: The Lady Pilots stopped the Lady Steers season in the RRAC quarterfinals last year before eventually losing in the conference championship game and reaching nationals. The Lady Pilots rank second in the NAIA in total rebounding margin (15.8). The starting five for the Lady Steers all average more than 30 minutes per game for a shorthanded team.

Fast break: The teams split two regular season meetings last year before LSU-Shreveport beat TC 75-72 on a buzzer-beater in the RRAC quarterfinals. The Pilots went on to win the conference tournament and reach the NAIA national quarterfinals. Under first-year head coach Kyle Blankenship, who replaced longtime leader Chad McDowell, the Pilots put up points (98.5 per game) in bunches. Milum leads the nation in scoring at 31.5 points per game. The Steers hit the boards relentlessly during a fast start. TC currently tops the nation in rebounding margin (17.0) per game and total rebound defense (24.4). In Monday’s 66-63 win over Tougaloo (Miss.), the Steers won the battle of the boards 42-29.
