All Saints edges Troup

The All Saints Trojans jumped out to a 14-point advantage and withstood an 11-0 run by Troup in the closing part of third period and beginning of the fourth to defeat the Tigers, 67-61.

It was the opening game of Day 2 of the 15th annual TABO Scholarship Classic at UT Tyler’s Herrington Patriot Center.

The Trojans led 52-39 after Aston Francis’ two free throws with 1:53 left in the third period.

The Tigers scored the next 11 points with Brandon Hearon scoring five points and Anfernee Ross adding a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 52-50 with Hearon’s two charity tosses after All Saints was hit with a technical foul.

All Saints responded with Brice Borgeson scoring nine of the Trojans last 15 points to close out Troup.

Troup was led in scoring by Hearon’s 19 points and Bradly Stewart adding 16 points.

Besides Francis scoring in double figures with 19 points, Borgeson chipped in 17 points and Luke Lee contributing 13 points for the Trojans.

Canton 36

After a sluggish first half the Red Devils rebounded by scoring 39 points in the second half to defeat Canton 52-36.

The Red Devils had two 7-0 runs in the third quarter and a 12-0 run in the final stanza to build their biggest advantage of 45-22 with three consecutive points from Caleb Gatlin with 3:42 left to play.

MPCH had a balance scoring attack by Gatlin’s 13 points and Alex Nunn chipping in 11 points.

Canton was led in scoring by Ryan Anderson with 13 points and scored the first nine points of the contest for the Eagles.
