Brownsboro edges Whitehouse

Brownsboro squeaked out a 48-47 victory over Whitehouse in the fourth game of the 15th Annual Tyler Area Basketball Officials Scholarship Classic at the Herrington Patriot Center on Friday.

Blake Ralson scored on a pass from Taylor Beall with 33 seconds left in the contest and the Bears tipped the ball away on a Wildcat in bounds pass with 3.9 seconds left to preserve the victory in the tight contest.

The largest lead of the contest came late in the first period when Whitehouse’s Brady Hill connected on a 3-pointer for a 16-11 lead. Neither team trailed by more than the five-point deficit.

Ralson led the Bears with 15 points and Davonte Givens and Beall each added nine points.

The short handed Wildcats were led in scoring with 16 points from Spencer Shaw and Ty Stickley contributed 11 points.

Frankston 52, All Saints 49

The opening game of the classic matched two well-coached teams from the East Texas area with longtime Frankston coach Robert Loper and Eddie Francis of All Saints.

Franskton scored the three-point win.

All Saints cut the Indians lead to 48-47 with 1:14 left in the contest on a long 3-pointer from Aston Francis.

Frankston answered when Larry Thompson, who led the Indians in scoring with 14 points and nine rebounds, rebounded and scored to extend the Indians lead to 50-47 with 53 seconds remaining.

Freshman Luke Lee scored off a pass from Francis to pull the Trojans within 50-49 with 41.2 left, but Corey Warren added an Indians basket for the final score.

Warren added 12 points and Gage Hart pumped in 10 points for the Indians.

Brice Borgeson contributed 11 points and Lee contributed 12 points for All Saints. Francis added 10 points with seven coming in the final period.

Laneville 64, Van 56

Laneville’s Tralon Alexander scored 18 points and athletic sophomore Ty Johnson added 14 points to lead Laneville over Van.

Van got off to a good start with 9-0 run in the opening quarter to lead 9-2 on a Ridge Crow 3-pointer, but the Yellow Jackets outscored Van 21-14 in the third period.

Dontavious Harris chipped in 14 points for Laneville, which is coached by former Robert E. Lee standout Hosea Lee.

Van was led in scoring by Brandon Dickerson’s 13 points and Crow and Zane Harrison with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Mount Pleasant-Chapel Hill 77, Huntington 61

Huntington overcame a 10-0 run to start the contest to take 24-19 lead on a basket by Dylan Wallace, but the Mount Pleasant-Chapel Hill outscored Huntington 24-14 in the third period to claim a win in the battle of the Red Devils. Alex Nunn led all scorers with 29 points, going 16 of 20 at the free throw line for MPCH.

Sharpshooter Kyle Wilson led Huntington with 22 points.
